Hi, I recently started a bloghosting platform (based on wordpress MU) and when I stumbled your blog I paid attention to your theme (looking good) so I was wondering can you tell me is it custom made theme or one of those free ones? thanks in advance! regards, blogiskewl

Carl – Thanks for sending the PDF. Just to clarify – it seems likely that if the problem is a corruption of the file – it will have occurred due to a conflict during the download process. Either on your PC, on our servers, or a combination of the two. It’s very unlikely that the problem will have occurred during the rebranding process itself.

Hamant – Thanks for your comment. The back-end is very easy to setup. Basically:

1) Open one of the files in wordpad and enter the filename of the PDF you want to rebrand, in one of the lines.
2) Further down, edit a couple more lines to say which adresses you want to be able to rebrand.
3) Save the files, and then upload them to the server, along with the PDF.

And that’s it. If you want to change the title and the text that appears on the rebranding page, you can edit this as well – either using wordpad again, or in an HTML editor.

I’ll be doing a video very soon that will demonstrate all this. It really is very easy to setup, and the plan is to make it progressively easier to use, with each new version.

Hi David
I had a go at re branding the 2nd pdf and it was incredibly easy.
A Fly through and breeze to actually use .
I am wondering how easy it is at the beck end for the setting up of such a system.

Ok David,
Have forwarded PDF and commented on your advice here.
Will try rebranding Twitter again with different browser.

Personaly, it shouldn’t really matter what browser is used.
Rebranding should work in most browsers.

I’ve done a bit of digging and it looks like a 109 error is often either a problem with the Acrobat software, or a conflict with the browser version you’re using. I’d need to see it to be sure. Please could you forward the PDF as an attachment to david@thenettle.com, and I’ll take a look.

You can also try the following possible fixes:

1) Instead of left-clicking the link to load the PDF, right-click and select “Save Target As..” Save the PDF to your hard drive and then open it from Windows Explorer, rather than in a browser.

2) Try the rebrander again, but use a different browser.

3) Uninstall Adobe Acrobat, and then download and install the latest version.

Carl – the gif link doesn’t seem to work – it says something about “remote linking forbidden. Please could you post the image somewhere else and comment again?

Hi,
Just tried the rebrander……didn’t work for me
Compiled the PDF but upon opening in Adobe I get an error box.
Also there seems to be some empty pages in the PDF.

Click on my name to see a screenshot of the error.

None of the links show my affiliate links. Maybe they are supposed
to be in those blank pages.

Please check it out.

I’ve not used Ultimate Rebrander, but based on the sales copy, here are the key differences:

1) Version 1 of Lucid Rebrander will likely be less than $67.

2) Letting affiliates use a link to the PDF download page instead, will not be a feature of Lucid Rebrander initially, but this is a feature planned for later versions.

3) Lucid Rebrander WILL work with most existing PDFs.

4) Special PDF creation software is NOT required.

5) Setting up your own PDF rebranding page is very easy (it just requires changing a couple of lines in the admin.php file, and adding/updating any relevant text on the rebranding page)

6) Inserting “Replacement” tags in the PDF is NOT required.

7) You DON’T have to create your PDF template with HTML tags, so there WON’T be limitations on the presentation of the PDF.

I haven’t consider providing stats, but it might be something we can consider working into a later version. But there’s no reason why we can’t show users how to do their own tracking in the meanwhile.

Hi David,

I had a go yesterday but the system failed – As You now mention -It was caused by the spaces.

In fact I tried again and it did cause a problem but when I took the spaces away all worked like a dream

David – The Lucid Rebrander – Is this the same software that created your pdf and have it rebranded online ? that will be avialble soon ?

I have come across a similar software script – Will it be similar to Harvey Segals Ultimate Rebrander ?
