Focus Seminar UK Event 2008 – In Review (Part Three)

23 Oct

Networking:

The opportunity to make new contacts and to build relationships with existing ones, is the reason why there isn’t really such a thing as a bad IM event.  Even if the presentations are poor (and this certainly wasn’t the case here), the chance to network with like-minded entrepreneurs is always valuable.

Unfortunately, this was probably the weakest aspect of this event and I sincerely hope this will be addressed for next years event. Read the rest of this entry »

Focus Seminar UK Event 2008 – In Review (Part Two)

22 Oct

Lectures:

After the introductory session and some improvised Q&A, Sean Roach gave a talk that was primarily about his developing project, GotAccess.  This social networking platform was mentioned briefly last year, but far more information was forthcoming on this occasion.

I remember being intrigued by the concept on hearing about it for the first time, but after this lecture I found myself daring to believe the hype.

Sean Roach could, no doubt, sell ice to the Eskimos, along with sun-loungers and a BBQ set.  Even so, it’s hard to deny that GotAccess is shaping up into something special.  Maybe, just maybe, it really is going to leave MySpace and Facebook in the dust. Read the rest of this entry »

Focus Seminar UK Event 2008 – In Review (Part One)

21 Oct

Unfortunately, I was only able to attend the first half of the event but, for what it’s worth, the following is an inside look at the event, along with some of the stand-out moments from the speakers.

Venue:

The Raddisson Heathrow hotel was the venue for Focus Marketing this year.  A few of us northerners grumbled about the increase in travel required compared to the last couple of years (which is a bit rich considering that most of the speakers and organizers had to travel all the way across the Atlantic), but its proximity to Heathrow airport made it a sensible choice.

The hotel is, as you would expect Read the rest of this entry »

Focus Marketing Seminar UK – Preparation

14 Oct

In two days time I’ll be taking the train down to London – Kings Cross, then the London Underground to Heathrow, and finally a taxi to the Heathrow Radisson Hotel, where the UK edition of the Focus Marketing Seminar is being held.

Before then – on the Wednesday – I will be taking an earlier trip down to London to attend the Softworld exhibition at which I will be conducting video interviews with some of the exhibitors.

Which ultimately leaves me a very small window of time to make my preparations for the Focus Marketing Seminar.

That may not sound like a problem, but only if you assume that ‘preparation’ simply means packing clothes and a toothbrush.

It doesn’t.

To get the most out of any training seminar, advance preparation is VERY important.

The following is not an exhaustive list, it’s simply a description of the preparation I consider to be necessary.  Read the rest of this entry »

Four Minute Money – Review

07 Oct

Last week we had the plan for setting up an online business in just 48 hours.

This week, it’s only going to take you four minutes!

Can you see a trend developing here? Perhaps next week we’ll have a training course that teaches how you to get your online business up and running yesterday.

Now THAT would be a neat trick.

Nevertheless with an immense effort I reeled my cynicism back in and sat down to study the Four Minute Money course by Harris Fellman and Brian Kosobucki. Read the rest of this entry »

48 Hour Profit Plan – Review

01 Oct

“Perfect For Beginners”

“All Internet Marketing Newbies Should Start Here”

“Step-By-Step Training from A to Z”

Compare the number of times you’ve hear expressions similiar to the above, with the number of times the product or service managed to ACTUALLY deliver something that a fledgling internet entrepreneur could use to start their online business from scratch.

You’ll most likely have a high number, followed by zero (or something close).

But this isn’t a rant about poor quality IM training products – this is about Read the rest of this entry »
